Sign that the world is coming to an end

Remember when SI had a little blurb in every issue entitled "Signs that the world is coming to an end"? Or something similar
Well...

Sign that the end is near
1. Over the past 10 years, golf has replaced ice hockey as the most popular recreational sport in Canada, according to Statistics Canada.

Anyone else have a sign that the end is near?

I heard on the radio today that Hockey Canada is having troube recruiting youngsters to play and are looking at ways to get to populations that don't normally consider hockey--such as the middled eastern groups in a variety of cities. One of the reason cited for the decline in interest is the perceived (or actual) cost of playing hockey. One of the things that always turned me off as well, along with the crazy parents, weird hours (11 pm practices for the under 10 crowd!) and the culture of fighting. Tennis, anyone!?

Sign of the Apocalypse? Golf in Canada is a good one.

On a personal level -- that Craig, Sam, J'Neil & I can all be working on our own laptops and sending each other "instant messages" rather than speaking, even though we are all in the same room.

Okay, that doesn't happen often, but it has happened before...

Sorry no signs for me, but mom, no fighting in Tennis?.... Ok maybe not so much anymore but I have seen numerous clips of John McEnroe fighting with the chair ump &/or lines person, and he wasn't the only one.

Today's sign of the apocalypse: I was in Costco and was somewhat appalled to see the three isles of Christmas things...

Today's sign of the apocalypse: That the Cookie Monster is no longer the Cookie Monster, he's now known as the Veggie Monster or some such nonsense....
